چکیده

Objectives. The widespread use of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has resulted in an increasing number of patients who have undergone prior PCI being referred for coronary artery bypass graft grafting (CABG). The aim of this study was to determine the association between previous PCI and early and midterm outcomes after CABG. Methods. A total of 54 patients undergoing elective CABG (group 1) between January 2008 and January 2009 were compared to 46 patients who had a history of bare metal stent implantation before CABG (group 2). Mean follow-up was 12 months. Results. The average time interval to CABG following initial PCI was 18.5 months. There was no significant difference in demographic features and risk factors between the two groups (p>0.05). There were also no significant differences in intraoperative and postoperative data, and no significant differences for in-hospital mortality, cardiac mortality and total mortality and in the number of rehospitalizations for cardiac or for all-cause reasons (p>0.05). Conclusions. In this study, previous PCI did not significantly influence the outcomes of CABG in a 12-month follow-up period. Eur Res J 2016;2(3):170-176

Effect of coronary artery bypass on QT dispersion

Introduction: QT dispersion (QT Max – QT min) reflects inhomogeneous ventricular depolarization that may provide a substrate for serious arrythmias and is associated with adverse clinical outcomes in patients with coronary artery disease. Some studies have shown reduction in QT dispersion after successful angioplasty due to coronary reperfusion, but effect of coronary artery bypass grafting o...

Hypoalbuminemia as a Predictor for Complications Following Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting

Background and purpose: There is little information about the prognostic role of preoperative serum albumin levels in postoperative outcomes following coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). The aim of this study was to evaluate preoperative hypoalbuminemia as a predictor for complications after CABG. Materials and methods: This prospective observational study was conducted in 200 patients und...

Use of Carbon dioxide versus air blower in on-pump beating-heart coronary artery bypass surgery

Introduction:  The use of carbon dioxide blower has been recognized as the standard of care in patients undergoing beating coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) due to higher solubility and lower risk of embolization. On the other hand, the compressed air blower has gone out of use since air can be easily trapped and is less soluble which can cause coronary embolism. The prese...

Acute and Long Term Outcomes of Coronary Intervention in Unprotected Left Main Lesions

Introduction : Significant left main coronary artery stenosis jeopardizes the entire myocardium of the left ventricle and has the worst prognosis of any form of coronary artery disease. Coronary-artery bypass grafting (CABG) has been considered as the standard therapeutic approach for such patients. There are limited data on the safety and effectiveness of percutaneous coronary intervention (PC...

Outcomes of coronary artery bypass grafting versus percutaneous coronary intervention with second-generation drug-eluting stents for patients with multivessel and unprotected left main coronary artery disease

OBJECTIVES To compare the efficacy and safety of percutaneous coronary intervention using second-generation drug-eluting stents with those of coronary artery bypass grafting among patients with multivessel disease and/or unprotected left main coronary artery disease in terms of mortality, myocardial infarction, repeat revascularization, and angina. BACKGROUND Although coronary artery disease ...
